Retirement age of Kerala Government Employees raised to 56 from 55 years...


Finance Minister of Kerala Government made the announcement in his budget speech, raised the retirement age of State Government employees and teachers to 56 years. 

  Finance Minister K. M. Mani has given priority to basic infrastructure in the budget 2012-13 being presented in the Assembly on Monday.-19-03-2012

This would be Mani's tenth budget and has created a record in presenting the most number of budgets.

Mani has raised the retirement age to 56. He has also withdrawn the mass retirement plan and stressed that in a short span of time the state was able to bring in speedy development.

The budget has allocated Rs 150 cr for the Kochi Metro. Rs 50 cr has been alloted in the initial phase works for the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod fast speed rail project. Rs 20 cr was also alloted for the mono rail project for Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram mono rail project. Rs 224 crore has been alloted for Vizhinjam project.

A Ayurveda university will be set up near Kottakkal. 50 percent subsidy has been given for biogas plants in state.

Small airports will be set up in Idukki and Wayanad districts. As part of this plan Rs 50 lakh has been approved to conduct a study. Rs 50 cr has been set aside for Kannur airport project. Airstrips will be set up in all districts which do not have airports. 50% subsidy has been announced for bio gas plants.
