Generations of Network – 0G, 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G


0G-Mobile radio telephone (also known as "0G"). Mobile radiotelephone systems preceded modern cellular mobile telephony technology. Since they were the predecessors of the first generation of cellular telephones, these systems are sometimes retroactively referred to as pre cellular (or sometimes zero generation) systems.

1G refers to the first-generation of wireless telephone technology, mobile telecommunications. These are the analog telecommunications standards that were introduced in the 1980s and continued until being replaced by 2G digital telecommunications. The main difference between two succeeding mobile telephone systems, 1G and 2G is that the radio signals that 1G networks use are analog, while 2G networks are digital.

2G is short for second-generation wireless telephone technology. Second generation 2G cellular telecom networks were commercially launched on the GSM standard in Finland by Radiolinja (now part of Elisa Oyj) in 1991. 2G technologies enabled the various mobile phone networks to provide the services such as text messages, picture messages and MMS (multi media messages). All text messages sent over 2G are digitally encrypted, allowing for the transfer of data in such a way that only the intended receiver can receive and read it.

3G stands for third-generation and refers to technology that allows mobile phones to access the internet - from surfing web pages to making video calls and downloading music. 3Gtelecommunication networks support services that provide an information transfer rate of at least 200 kbit/s. 3G finds application in wireless voice telephony, mobile Internet access, fixed wireless Internet access, video calls and mobile TV. General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a packet oriented mobile data service on the 2G and 3G cellular communication system's global system for mobile communications (GSM). GPRS provides data rates of 56-114 kbit/second. 2G cellular technology combined with GPRS is sometimes described as 2.5G, that is, a technology between the second (2G) and third (3G) generations of mobile telephony.

4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone mobile communication technology standards. It is a successor to the third generation (3G) standards. A 4G system provides mobile ultra-broadband Internet access. Conceivable applications include amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D television, and cloud computing.


5G (5th generation mobile networks or 5th generation wireless systems) projects to denote the next major phase of mobile telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G/IMT-Advanced standards. 5G is also referred to as beyond 2020 mobile communications technologies. 5G does not describe any particular specification in any official document published by any telecommunication standardization body.

Cadre restructuring Committee Meeting - Proposals arrived


The cadre restructuring committee meetings were held on 04-02-14 and 05-02-14 and Department mooted the following final proposals.

1.The C& B class offices will be placed in the in the LSG with Grade Pay of Rs 2800

2.The offices in Tripple hand and LSG will be placed in the grade pay of Rs 4200

3.The HSG-II Postmasters and Sub postmasters will be placed in the Grade pay of Rs 4600

4.After carving out the proposal the HSG-II will be placed in the Grade pay of Rs 4800 after 4 years 
based on the percentage in the postal side the same ratio and percentage will be maintained in RMS/Admn./SBCO etc.

The demand of the postal class -III General Secretaries is that the APM and APM Accountant posts are to be upgraded and the percentage should be arrived. Staff side will submit revised proposals on it. Final agreement is yet to be arrived on these proposals.

Mr. Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur, M.A.,L.L.B – was born on August 7, 1943 . He was enrolled as an Advocate of the Rajasthan High Court on October 20, 1967 . He was appointed as Assistant Government Advocate and Deputy Government Advocate on August 2, 1969 and Government Advocate of Jodhpur from January 31, 1977 to July 12, 1978 . Appointed as Additional Advocate General in 1981. He was appointed as Additional Judge on July 13, 1985 and permanent Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on July 23, 1986 . He was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court on February 18, 1994 .
He was appointed as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court from February 3, 1996 . Transferred to the Calcutta High Court on December 22, 1999 .
He was elevated as Judge , Supreme Court of India on June 7, 2004.

Mr. Vivek Rae took over as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas in the month of February, 2013.
Mr. Vivek Rae entered the Indian Administrative Service in 1978, after a brief stint asa Management Trainee with Hindustan Lever Limited (subsidiary of UnileverLimited). As a civil servant, Mr Rae has acquired wide ranging experience cutting across social and economic sectors, including health, education, planning and finance. Mr. Rae served as Deputy Commissioner in the state of Arunachal Pradesh from 1985 to 1988.
Mr. Rae served briefly at the Prime Minister’s Office during 1989-90 and there after worked as Assistant Resident Representative with the United National Development Programme, New Delhi from 1991-1995. Mr Rae worked as Finance Secretary and Planning Secretary in the state of Goa during 1996-1999, Planning Secretary in the National Capital Territory of Delhi during 1999-2001 and Joint Secretary (PlanFinance) in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India during 2002-2006.

Rathin Roy took charge as Director NIPFP in May 2013. Prior to joining NIPFP, he has been the Director of Asia Pacific Regional Centre, UNDP, Bangkok, and the Director, International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), UNDP, Brazil. He has also served as the Public Resource Management Advisor, and the Acting Cluster Leader, Inclusive Development, in the Poverty Practice, Bureau for Development Policy (BDP), UNDP. On invitation from the Government of India, he also served as the Economic Advisor to the Thirteenth Finance Commission, a Constitutional body of the Government of India. He has worked in over 80 countries during and prior to his tenure with UNDP, and is a well known figure in the world of applied macroeconomic and fiscal policy.

He holds a PhD in Economics and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, UK. Post-PhD, he was tenured in the Economics Faculty at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and an Economist with the Institute for Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester.

Top Ten Tips for Study


It’s time to make a different plan to study a part of your everyday school routine and don't be limited to 'cramming' for exams and tests.

I. Establish a routine
Fix a particular time each day to study a particular portion and stick to it


II. Create a suitable environment
An environment which suits you to study rather than an environment which is   standard but not as per your style. Always study with full concentration and do not bother if it reaches to only one or two hours.

III. Set a timetable
to be punctual, a timetable is required so that you can plan to cover all your subjects in an organized way,

IV. Look after yourself
Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and eat healthy foods. Keep sugary foods to a minimum. Make sure you get enough sleep each night.Regular physical exercise makes you feel great, boosts your energy and helps you relax. So try to keep up regular sporting activities or at least fit in some regular exercise as often as you can.

V. Reward yourself for studying
Do the other things apart from study like talk to your friends, watch movies, play your games etc but try to recall the things what you had studied

VI. Have variety in your study program
Study different subjects each day and do different types of work and revision in each study session.

VII. Don’t lose concentration
Have all the appropriate materials with you before you start a session of study to minimize distractions.

VIII. Recall the things to test yourself
Ask your parents or family members to quiz you on what you have learnt, use draft questions from books, past assessments or major exam papers.

IX. Don't get frustrate at exam time
If you have followed a study routine and have been revising your class work, there should be no need to worry. Try to keep yourself calm, positive and confident.

XBe in contact with your teachers for guidance
especially if you're having doubts in the concepts or facing problems while solving the questions or facing trouble in grasping a new concept. They will be happy to help.
Deep breathing exercises at the start and end of each session will also rejuvenate your energy levels. You should also involve yourself in outdoor activity of half an hour or an hour as it always helps.

Postal/Sorting Assistant (PA/SA) Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2014


Friends...  Happy News for all Postal/Sorting Assistant Aspirants. Department of Posts has amended the Postal Assistants and Sorting Assistants(PA/SA) (Group C non- Gazetted), Recruitment Rules, 2011.
Earlier to be eligible for applying to the post of PA/SA:
1) General Candidates had to secure at least 60% marks in their 10+2 exam
2) Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates had to secure at least 55% marks in their 10+2 exam
3) Schedule Castes/ Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) candidates had to secure at least 45% marks in their 10+2 exam
But as per the new amendment, a pass in 10+2 or 12th class will be sufficient to be eligible for applying for the post. The official extraordinary gazette in this regard has been published by Government of India on 27 January 2014.

The above amendment has also been made in respect of Postal Assistant in Savings Bank Control and Internal Check Organisations, (PA SBCO) Group C non-Gazetted posts Recruitment Rules, 2012 also.

Further new recruitment rules for Postal Assistants in Circle/Regional Offices - PA(CO/RO) have been published & will be known as Department of Posts, Circle and Regional Offices, Postal Assistant, Group ‘C’ Post Recruitment Rules, 2014. Click Here for details.

So with these amendments published we can expect PA/SA recruitment for filling the vacancies of the year 2013 & 2014 very soon. As per the Calendar of Exams published by DoP, recruitment for PA/SA is tentatively scheduled for March 2014. India Post to install 3000 ATMs,1.35 lakh mirco-ATMs by Sept 15

Even as its application to start a commercial bank is pending, India Post has drawn a massive plan to install as many as 3,000 ATMs and 1.35 lakh micro-ATMs at the ubiquitous post offices across the country for savings account holders by September 2015, a top official has said.
"We will be starting with three ATMs to be installed in New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore on February 5 and then ramp it up gradually," postal department secretary Padmini Gopinath told a select group of reporters here over the weekend.
She said 1,000 ATMs with the India Post branding will be put in within the first year, which will be ramped up massively to 3,000 in the next 18 months.
To start with, the ATMs can be used only by 26 crore savings account-holders who save with the postal department, but Gopinath exuded confidence that within six months of the launch, they will get the interoperability permission from the Reserve Bank.
Postal savings are worth around Rs 6.05 trillion, which is half the savings in the largest lender SBI and more than double that of the largest private sector lender ICICI Bank.
Through interoperability, India Post will join the National Financial Switch, which will benefit India Post account holders to transact at the banks' ATMs and vice versa, she added.
India Post has been working with software major Infosys on this project, she added.
The micro ATMs will be handheld devices to be operated at the post office level while the ATM will be similar to the one operated by any commercial bank, she added.
The postal department, which has 1.55 lakh post offices over 90% of which are in villages, offers the savings account to people across the country and pays an interest of 4% per annum for such deposits. The account offers cheque facility at present.
It can be noted that the Department of Posts is fighting a very contentious battle to convert itself into a full fledged bank, asserting that its reach can help achieve the goal of financial inclusion.
However, the finance ministry has expressed some reservations about the idea, while Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal has exuded confidence of winning over his Cabinet colleagues to get the go ahead for the 'Postal Bank'.
