SBI waives minimum balance criteria for Savings Bank Account

n order to attract new customers, State Bank of India (SBI) has done away with minimum balance criteria for saving banks account.

The bank will not levy any charge for breaching minimum balance criteria.


The facility is available to existing customers also, 
SBI said in an advertisement. 

For the normal SBI 
savings account with cheque book facility, a customer had to maintain a minimum balance of Rs 1,000 in his or her account failing which it attracted penalty.

There are certain saving account products of the bank where the minimum monthly balance is as low as Rs 50. Depending on features and facility, the minimum average monthly balance varies.


The waiver would help the bank in improving customer base, an official said, adding, it will also help the bank inc generating low cost deposits as the savings bank account earns interest rate of just 4 per cent.

Sridharan as General Secretary of AIPEU Group ‘C’ (CHQ) during his Six years tenure and like to place on record our whole hearted congratulations to him and also thank him for his unparalled and valuable service, which definitely resulted in taking the organization to newer heights and also in settling many of the long pending demands of the Postal employees, especially Postal Group ‘C’ staff. 

Com. K. V. Sridharan’s contributions in enhancing the prestige and image of AIPEU Group ‘C’ and thereby NFPE, will be remembered forever. In order to strengthen the organization and also to enhance the organizing capacity of the rank and file leaders the P3 CHQ under the leadership of Com. K.V.S has published many books on rulings such as Venture, Hand Book, GDS Crusader and GDS Refresher etc. and also is maintaining constant communication with the general membership through website and also the Bhartiya Post monthly journal. The Trade Union classes conducted by P3 CHQ has also contributed to a great extent in improving the quality of the organization. 

Com. K. V. Sridharan is a vibrant, hardworking and fully committed leader and is always working for the upliftment and welfare of the Postal employees, especially most down-trodden three lakhs Gramin Dak Sewaks. He has also extended his helping hand to all affiliated unions of NFPE as the Leader of the JCM (DC) Staff side. He is also the All India Vice-President of the Confederation of Central Government Employees & Workers and is on the forefront in implementing all the programmes of the Confederation. He has done his best in making the General Strikes conducted as per the call of Central Trade Unions and other Federations including NFPE against the anti-people and anti-worker policies of the Govt. a ground success in the Postal Sector. 

This Central Working Committee of while saluting Com. K. V. S. for his dedicated services to the CHQ of AIPEU Group ‘C’ hereby resolved to utilize the valuable and experienced services of Com. K. V. Sridharan in the AIPEU Group ‘C’ (CHQ) till the next All India Conference to be held in 2013. This CWC further resolves to pay reasonable monthly compensation/honorarium to Com. K. V. Sridharan for his services to be rendered after his superannuation to the CHQ which will be equal to the pay and allowances eligible to him after deducting the pension and dearness relief drawn by him. He will be paid eligible head quarters allowance and all other facilities available to the General Secretary at present.

The undersigned is directed to say that a number of representations have been received in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for recognition oflife Line Hospital Medical & Research Centre, Panvel, Raigad (Maharashtra) for treatement of Central Government Employees and their Family Members under CS(MA) Rules, 1944.
In view of the hardship faced by CS(MA) beneficiaries for their own treatment and treatement of their family members at Raigad (Maharashtra) the matter has been examined in the Ministry and it has been decided to empanel Life Line Hospital Medical and Research Centre, Panvel, Raigad (Maharashtra) under Central Services (Medical Attendance) Rules, 1944.
2. The   Schedule   of  charges   for   the   treatment   of  Central  Government Employees and the member of their family under the CS(MA) Rules, 1944, will be the rates fixed for CGHS, Bangalore. The approved rates are available on the website of  CGHS (www.mohfw.nic.in/cghs.html) and may be downloaded/ printed.
3. The undersigned is further directed to clarify as under:-
(a) “Package Rate” shall mean and include lump sum cost of in-patient treatment/day care/diagnostic procedure for which a CGHS beneficiary has been permitted by the competent authority or for treatment under emergency from the time of admission to the time of discharge, including (but not limited to)-(i) Registration charges, (ii) Admission charges, (iii) Accommodation charges including patient’s diet, (iv) Operation charges, (v) Injection charges, (vi) Dressing charges, (vii) Doctor/consultant visit charges, (viii)  ICU/ICCU charges, (ix) Monitoring charges, (x) Transfusion charges, (xi) Anesthesia charges, (xii) Operation theatre charges, (xiii) Procedural charges / Surgeon’s fee, (xiv) Cost of surgical disposables and all sundries used during hospitalization, (xv) Cost of medicines, (xvi) Related routine and essential investigations, (xvii)Physiotherapy charges etc, (xviii) Nursing care and charges for its services.

6 New Postal Training Centres to start in 12th Plan period.

VADODARA: The department of posts will start six postal training centres (PTCs) across the country during the 12th Five Year Plan. Kamleshwar Prasad, member, human resource development in the Postal Services Board, New Delhi informed media persons here on Sunday. 

Prasad was in the city to inaugurate golden jubilee celebrations of PTC, Vadodara and release a special cover to mark the occasion. He informed that at present the department has six full-time training facilities across the country, including PTC, Vadodara to meet the requirement of a workforce of five lakh.
"We are adopting National Training Policy 2012, which will provide all employees of the department three career development opportunities. This centres will be helpful in providing training to the workforce," he said, adding that the department is also moving ahead with its plans to go for complete computerization of post offices. 


"This should be implemented by end of this year or early next year," he said. At present, there are nearly 1.55 lakh post offices across the country of which 9,500 are in Gujarat. 

The PTC at Vadodara was established on July 1, 1962 to cater to the training needs of postal employees of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh postal circles.
The centre had started its functioning from a rented accommodation provided by Gujarat government on the premises of Karelibaug-based mental hospital. It was in 1985 that the centre was relocated to its present premises, opposite Harni airport. At present, it has a capacity of handling more than one lakh trainee days in a year.
