How to change Main Passenger Name and Boarding station On IRCTC E-Ticket

Many a times it may so happen that you need to change your travel plan a bit which could involve either change in your boarding station or even changing the main person or the first person in the ticket booked via IRCTC.
Like counter booking tickets, now in e-tickets also you can apply for change in the boarding station and name of the passenger. One needs to move to the nearest Railway Reservation Office with
  • Electronic Reservation Slip print out
  • ID proof in original
  • A written request letter needs to be presented to the railway authority
at least 24 hours before the scheduled journey. This process can only be done once.  You can have any valid id card i.e. (Voter identity card/Passport/ Pan card/Driving license/Photo I/d card of Central/State Government/Student Identity Card with photograph issued by recognized School/College for their students/Nationalized Bank Passbook with photograph/Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated photograph) in original.

Drawbacks :
That’s not all, there are some limitations also. As per the railway reservation the name can only be transferred to another family member that has to be father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife. The changes in name will be done only on presentation of valid blood relation proof.
Now if many of you are cursing why the restriction has been added then we should understand that if Railways allows you to swap with anybody, then lot of black marketing will start taking place. This is the reason why somebody in your blood relationship can be included.
