Tip to Trace Any Phone Number in the World

Sometimes we cannot even identify which country the missed call is from (except ofcourse the ones from our home country and a few others for which we know the international dialing code).
Then how do we find it?

Centralized database

There is a centralized database which has the following details about almost every phone number in the world.

1. Type of Number
2. Country
3. City / State / Exchange location
4. Original Network Provider

1. Type of Number

This specifies whether the number is a Mobile number or a Landline/Fixed line referred as Geographic number. There is also a type of number called NonGeographic Number in countries like UK which is not linked to any specific location/city.

2. Country

It is the country the number belongs to.
3. City / State / Exchange location
This gives the city and exchange location information for a fixed line phone and the zone or state for a mobile number.
4. Original Network Provider
This is the actual telecom company providing the service like Airtel, BSNL, Verizon, T-Mobile etc. But network provider listed here may not be the present network/service provider because Number Portability is not taken into account.

How can you use this service?
To use this service go to This Page and enter the number in the international format.
+
Eg. +12532532533 or +923335721248
For fixed line phones, enter as follows:
+
Eg. +919999999999

You can also use 00 instead of + .

BlackBerry launches new PlayBook OS

Ranjan Moses (right), Carrier Product Manager, India, Research in Motion (RIM) and Indranil Aikat, Vice-Presidnet, International Bussinesss and Alliances, Apalya Technologies, during the launch of new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.2 in New Delhi on Friday.

Research In Motion (RIM), makers of BlackBerry smartphones, on Friday launched a new operating system (OS) for its PlayBook tablets with additional functionalities, including the ability to run Android-based applications.

The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will add advanced messaging features, increased social integration and better browser, among other things, Research In Motion (RIM) Manager, Carrier Product (India), Ranjan Moses told reporters here.
The new OS also supports Android applications like Pool Break Pro.
This will enable developers create applications for Android and make the same applications available to PlayBook users as well.
The new OS is available as a free update for existing users and the new devices will have the new OS in-built.
BlackBerry Playbook is available at an offer price of Rs. 19,990 for the 64 GB model.
In December last year, the Canadian giant had slashed the price of its PlayBook by more than half to Rs. 13,490 for the 16 GB version to cash in on the festive season and burgeoning demand for tablet PCs in India.
RIM, which is known for its BlackBerry series of phones, had introduced PlayBook in June in the Indian market.
According to analysts, sales in the tablet PC segment in India are expected to touch one million units over the next 12 months.
With 3G (high-speed internet services) being rolled out aggressively, the opportunity has only expanded, they said.
Since the launch of Apple’s iPad in the country, the tablet market has been witnessing huge competition, with more and more new contenders launching their devices.

WHAT IS ANDROID ?

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.
Features
§  Application framework enabling reuse and replacement of components
§  Dalvik virtual machine optimized for mobile devices
§  Integrated browser based on the open source WebKit engine

§  Optimized graphics powered by a custom 2D graphics library; 3D graphics based on the OpenGL ES 1.0 specification (hardware acceleration optional)
§  SQLite for structured data storage
§  Media support for common audio, video, and still image formats (MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, PNG, GIF)
§  GSM Telephony (hardware dependent)
§  Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G, and WiFi (hardware dependent)
§  Camera, GPS, compass, and accelerometer (hardware dependent)
§  Rich development environment including a device emulator, tools for debugging, memory and performance profiling, and a plugin for the Eclipse IDE
Android Architecture
The following diagram shows the major components of the Android operating system. Each section is described in more detail below.
Applications
Android will ship with a set of core applications including an email client, SMS program, calendar, maps, browser, contacts, and others. All applications are written using the Java programming language.
Application Framework
By providing an open development platform, Android offers developers the ability to build extremely rich and innovative applications. Developers are free to take advantage of the device hardware, access location information, run background services, set alarms, add notifications to the status bar, and much, much more.
Developers have full access to the same framework APIs used by the core applications. The application architecture is designed to simplify the reuse of components; any application can publish its capabilities and any other application may then make use of those capabilities (subject to security constraints enforced by the framework). This same mechanism allows components to be replaced by the user.
Underlying all applications is a set of services and systems, including:
§  A rich and extensible set of Views that can be used to build an application, including lists, grids, text boxes, buttons, and even an embeddable web browser
§  Content Providers that enable applications to access data from other applications (such as Contacts), or to share their own data
§  Resource Manager, providing access to non-code resources such as localized strings, graphics, and layout files
§  ANotification Managerthat enables all applications to display custom alerts in the status bar
§  AnActivity Managerthat manages the lifecycle of applications and provides a common navigation backstack
For more details and a walkthrough of an application, see the Notepad Tutorial.
Libraries
Android includes a set of C/C++ libraries used by various components of the Android system. These capabilities are exposed to developers through the Android application framework. Some of the core libraries are listed below:
§  System C library - a BSD-derived implementation of the standard C system library (libc), tuned for embedded Linux-based devices
§  Media Libraries - based on PacketVideo's OpenCORE; the libraries support playback and recording of many popular audio and video formats, as well as static image files, including MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, and PNG
§  Surface Manager - manages access to the display subsystem and seamlessly composites 2D and 3D graphic layers from multiple applications
§  LibWebCore - a modern web browser engine which powers both the Android browser and an embeddable web view
§  SGL - the underlying 2D graphics engine
§  3D libraries - an implementation based on OpenGL ES 1.0 APIs; the libraries use either hardware 3D acceleration (where available) or the included, highly optimized 3D software rasterizer
§  FreeType - bitmap and vector font rendering
§  SQLite - a powerful and lightweight relational database engine available to all applications
Android Runtime
Android includes a set of core libraries that provides most of the functionality available in the core libraries of the Java programming language.
Every Android application runs in its own process, with its own instance of the Dalvik virtual machine. Dalvik has been written so that a device can run multiple VMs efficiently. The Dalvik VM executes files in the Dalvik Executable (.dex) format which is optimized for minimal memory footprint. The VM is register-based, and runs classes compiled by a Java language compiler that have been transformed into the .dex format by the included "dx" tool.
The Dalvik VM relies on the Linux kernel for underlying functionality such as threading and low-level memory management.
Linux Kernel
Android relies on Linux version 2.6 for core system services such as security, memory management, process management, network stack, and driver model. The kernel also acts as an abstraction layer between the hardware and the rest of the software stack.

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

1. Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

2.Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!'

3.Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

4.How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally....

5.Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem.. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now. This is sponsored by McDonalds.

This is the  kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends !!!
