C. K. Chandrappan was a leftist politician from Kerala, india. He was the Kerala state secretary
of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the president of
Kisan Sabha at the time of his death. He was a member of the Lok Sabha of India representing the Thrissur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Kerala
from 1977 to 1980 and from 2004 to 2010. Chandrappan served as Member
of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala from 1991 to 1996 representing the
Chertala Assembly Constituency.
His father, C.K. Kumara Panikker, was a famous leader of CPI and was known as
Vayalar Stalin. Panikker was one of the frontline fighters in the Punnapra-Vayalar uprising.
Chadrappan started his political life when he was a student. He was an
active member of leftist youth federations in the 1970s. He was the
president of All India Youth Federation (AIYF). He took part in the Goa
liberation movement and was jailed as a political prisoner in various
occasions in Delhi, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
Born to Ammukkutty and C.K. Kumara Panickar, who used to be known as
‘Vayalar Stalin,' hero of the legendary Punnapra-Vayalar uprising, on
November 11, 1936, Chandrappan did his schooling at Cherthala and
Thriupunthura. He graduated from the Chittur Government College and did
his post graduation at University College in Thiruvnanthapuram.
Chandrappan was married to
Bulu Roy Chodhary, a political activist from West Bengal.
C K Chandrappan, the former CPI MP from Trichur, was adjudged the top
performer by the National Social Watch, an NGO.

Seventy-six year old Chandrappan, who had been fighting cancer for
nearly a year now, died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He
had been admitted to a hospital at Kochi week ago when he developed
complications while campaigning in the Piravom byelection and was later
shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. He was put on ventilator last night and
breathed his last around 12.10 p.m.
The body would be kept at the M. N. Smarakom, the State headquarters of
the CPI, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for public viewing and taken to Alappuzha
for cremation on Friday evening at the Valiyachudukaad, the last
resting place of several communist warriors of the past. The State
CPI(M) has suspended all its official programmes as a mark of respect to
the CPI leader.
He became active in politics even while a school student and was elected
State president of the All India Students Federation (AISF) in 1956. He
later became the national president of the AISF and also served as
general secretary and president of the All India Youth Federation.
He had actively participated in the Goa liberation movement and had led
several student and youth agitations. Chandrappan was arrested several
times and was also put behind bars in the Tihar jail in Delhi and the
Residency jail in Kolkata.
An outstanding parliamentarian, he was elected to the Lok Sabha three
times and once to the State Assembly. He represented Thalassery (1971),
Kannur (1977) and Thrissur (2005) in the Lok Sabha. He reached the
Assembly in 1991 from Cherthala. From 1970, he was a national council
member of the party and has been a member of the party central
secretariat ever since.

നഷ്‌ടമാകുന്നത്‌ മറ്റൊരു പോരാളിയെ കൂടി. കടുത്ത പാരമ്പര്യവാദിയും
ആദ്യന്തം കര്‍ക്കശക്കാരനായ കമ്മ്യുസിറ്റുകാരനായി ജീവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌ത
ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ രാജ്യത്തെ തലമുതിര്‍ന്ന ഇടതുപക്ഷ നേതാവായി വളര്‍ന്നു.
പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ക്കു പുതിയ പ്രതീക്ഷ നല്‍കിയാണ്‌ ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ കേരള
രാഷ്‌ട്രീയത്തില്‍ സജീവമാകുന്നത്‌. പാരമ്പര്യവാദിയായ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ
നിലപാടുകള്‍ സി.പി.എമ്മിനു പലപ്പോഴും തലവേദനയായി. അനാരോഗ്യം കാരണം
സംസ്‌ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി വെളിയം ഭാര്‍ഗവന്‍ 2010 നവംബര്‍ 14ന്‌
സ്‌ഥാനമൊഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോഴാണു സി.കെ. ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ
സെക്രട്ടറിയായത്‌.

പാര്‍ട്ടി ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി എ.ബി. ബര്‍ദന്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തിക്കാട്ടിയതു
ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്റെ വിപ്ലവപാരമ്പര്യമാണ്‌. പുന്നപ്ര വയലാര്‍ സമരത്തിന്റെ
പാരമ്പര്യമാണ്‌.
കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ഇതിഹാസം രചിച്ച
സമരത്തിന്റെ തീച്ചൂളയില്‍നിന്നാണു ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ രാഷ്‌ട്രീയരംഗത്തേക്കു
കടന്നുവന്നത്‌. പുന്നപ്ര വയലാര്‍ സമരനായകന്‍ വയലാര്‍ സ്‌റ്റാലിനെന്നു
വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സി.കെ. കുമാരപ്പണിക്കരുടെ മകനാണു ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍.
തിരു-കൊച്ചി എം.എല്‍.എയായിരുന്നു കുമാരപ്പണിക്കര്‍. വയലാര്‍ രക്‌തസാക്ഷി
മണ്ഡപത്തിനു സമീപമാണ്‌ ഇവരുടെ തറവാട്‌. ദിവാന്‍ ഭരണത്തിനെതിരേ 1946 ല്‍
നടന്ന പുന്നപ്ര- വയലാര്‍ സമരത്തിന്‌ നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കിയതിന്റെ പേരില്‍
കുമാരപ്പണിക്കരുടെ കുന്തിരിശേരി വീട്‌ ദിവാന്‍ ഭരണകൂടം ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്തി.
കുമാരപ്പണിക്കര്‍
ഒളിവിലായി. ചന്ദ്രപ്പനും സഹോദരനും ഒരു വര്‍ഷത്തോളം തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിലെ
അമ്മവീട്ടിലാണ്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞത്‌. ഇവര്‍ മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ നാലുകെട്ട്‌
ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്തി പുരയിടത്തിന്‌ ചുറ്റും മുള്ളുവേലി കെട്ടിയ നിലയിലായിരുന്നു.
അന്നത്തെ തിരുക്കൊച്ചി മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്ന സി. കേശവന്‌
കുമാരപ്പണിക്കര്‍ കത്തയച്ചതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നായിരുന്നു മുള്ളുവേലിയും മുദ്രയും
പൊളിച്ച്‌ നീക്കിയത്‌. പിന്നീട്‌ പുതിയവീട്‌ നിര്‍മിച്ചാണ്‌ അവര്‍
വീണ്ടും ഇവിടെ താമസമാക്കിയത്‌.
51-ാമത്തെ വയസില്‍ പക്ഷാഘാതത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ കുമാരപ്പണിക്കര്‍ മരിച്ചു. 10 വര്‍ഷത്തിനുശേഷം മാതാവ്‌ അമ്മുക്കുട്ടിയും മരിച്ചു.
വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിലൂടെ
കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് പാര്‍ട്ടിയിലേക്കു വന്ന ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ കുമാരപണിക്കരുടെയും
അമ്മുക്കുട്ടിഅമ്മയുടെയും അഞ്ചുമക്കളില്‍ മൂന്നാമനാണ്‌. പ്രശസ്‌തമായ
ചിരപ്പന്‍ചിറ തറവാട്ടിലെ അംഗമായ ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ 1936 നവംബര്‍ 11നാണ്‌
ജനിച്ചത്‌.
ചേര്‍ത്തലയിലും തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിലുമായിരുന്നു സ്‌കൂള്‍
വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. എറണാകുളം മഹാരാജാസ്‌ കോളജിലും ചിറ്റൂര്‍ ഗവ. കോളജിലും
ബിരുദപഠനം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ ഇദ്ദേഹം തിരുവനന്തപുരം യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി
കോളജില്‍നിന്നു ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം നേടി.
നന്നേ
ചെറുപ്പത്തില്‍തന്നെ കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുമായി
ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു. സ്‌കൂള്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി
ഫെഡറേഷന്റെ സജീവപ്രവര്‍ത്തകനായി.
1956ല്‍ എ.ഐ.എസ്‌.എഫിന്റെ
സംസ്‌ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറിയായി. കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് മന്ത്രിസഭയ്‌ക്കെതിരായ വിമോചന
സമരത്തിനെതിരേ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളെ അണിനിരത്തുന്നതില്‍ നിര്‍ണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു.
എ.ഐ.എസ്‌.എഫ്‌. അഖിലേന്ത്യാ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌, എ.ഐ.വൈ.എഫ്‌. ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി,
പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. ഗോവ വിമോചനസമരത്തില്‍
പങ്കെടുത്ത ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്‍ നിരവധി വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി-യുവജന സമരങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നേതൃത്വം
നല്‍കി. പലതവണ അറസ്‌റ്റ് വരിച്ചു. തിഹാര്‍ ജയിലിലും കൊല്‍ക്കത്ത റസിഡന്‍സി
ജയിലിലും ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ കാരാഗൃഹവാസം അനുഭവിച്ചു.
പ്രഗത്ഭനായ
പാര്‍ലമെന്റേറിയനാണ്‌. മൂന്നുതവണ പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലേക്കും ഒരുതവണ
നിയമസഭയിലേക്കും തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1971ല്‍ തലശേരിയില്‍നിന്നും 1977ല്‍
കണ്ണൂരില്‍നിന്നും 2005ല്‍ തൃശൂരില്‍നിന്നുമാണു ലോക്‌സഭയിലേക്കു
തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടത്‌. 1991ലെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ചേര്‍ത്തലയില്‍നിന്നു
നിയമസഭയിലെത്തി.
കെ.ടി.ഡി.സി. ചെയര്‍മാന്‍, കേരഫെഡ്‌ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍
തുടങ്ങിയ സ്‌ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ വഹിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ പ്രഭാത്‌ ബുക്ക്‌ഹൗസിന്റെ
ചെയര്‍മാനും മാനേജിംഗ്‌ ഡയറക്‌ടറുമാണ്‌. 1970 മുതല്‍ സി.പി.ഐ. ദേശീയ
കൗണ്‍സില്‍ അംഗവും ഇപ്പോള്‍ കേന്ദ്രസെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റ്‌ അംഗവുമാണ്‌.
അഖിലേന്ത്യാ കിസാന്‍സഭ പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്നു. കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് പാര്‍ട്ടി
നേതാവ്‌ ബുലുറോയ്‌ ചൗധരിയാണു ഭാര്യ.
രാജപ്പന്‍, കൃഷ്‌ണപ്പന്‍,
വേലപ്പന്‍, ലക്ഷ്‌മികുട്ടി എന്നിവരാണ്‌ സഹോദരങ്ങള്‍. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം
ലഭിക്കുന്നതിന്‌ മുമ്പ്‌ ഒട്ടേറെ ചരിത്ര സംഭവങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ സാക്ഷ്യം
വഹിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കുന്തിരിശേരി വീട്ടില്‍ ചന്ദ്രപ്പന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്‌ഠന്‍ സി.കെ
രാജപ്പന്റെ മകന്‍ ദിലീപും കുടുംബവുമാണ്‌ താമസിക്കുന്നത്‌.
