postal, Manipur division has decided to ensure people get better service.

Mangminthang, Director, Manipur Postal Division told UNI that there are rooms
for manipulating packets as lots of agencies are involved in transportation of
goods.
There
are some complaints about loss of goods and manipulations of the packets he
said.
India
Post is well equipped to meet the demands of the people and all sort of
sensitive, official, documents are all managed by India Post, he added.
It is
mostly the government controlled India Post that reaches every nook and corner
of the country and in Manipur alone there are 53 sub offices and 643 BPOs which
are managed by 1780 staff.
India
has the largest postal network in the world with over 1, 55,015 Post Offices
(as on 31.03.2009) of which 1, 39,144 (89.76%) are in the rural areas.
There
are dedicated staff to look after the complaints and needs of the people are
catered to online also on its website http://www.indiapost.gov.in.
Online
complaints, grievances are well attended, he added.
Problems
of theft and loss are solved when there are less transit points and special
focus is given to transport maximum goods by air he said.
Ksh
Ibomcha, Superintendent said goods sent by speed post is supposed to be
delivered within 78 hours and India Post transports goods by Air India, India,
jet Airways and Railways (surface).
There
are many points where the packets can be manipulated by some erring people at
any of the transit points he said.
India
Post officials have asked its staff to be vigilant and wrote letters to all the
agencies involved so that goods are not stolen and packets manipulated he
added.
CCTV
cameras will be installed at all transit points specially at hub centres he
further said.
He
appealed to the people to rely on the government postal service and continue to
render support to it.
Important
transporters, online sales companies are now relying on India Post he added.
India
Post is dedicated to provide mail parcel, money transfer, banking, insurance
and retail services with speed and reliability ,services to the customers on
value-for-money basis it was added.
All
staff have been instructed to ensure that the employees are proud to be its
main strength and serve its customers with a human touch.
It
has also decided to continue to deliver social security services and to enable
last mile connectivity as a government of India platform.
